An estranged grandson returns home to heal his grandmother with post traumatic stress disorder using VR simulation in an unexpected share experience.
Role: Visual Effects Artist
Key Responsibilities: To create a 3D set extension of Nam Dinh, Vietnam in the 1950s
I had the opportunity to work closely with Scot Tran (Director/Film Maker) and Scott Stokdyk (VFX Supervisor, known for Spiderman 2 & G-Force) in this film.
The task was to create a set extension for the shots that were taken in Los Angeles and make it seem like Nam Dinh, Vietnam in the 1950s. The whole scene (3 shots) took roughly 1 week from scratch.
One of the biggest challenges in this project was camera matching / 3D tracking as there was some slight fish-eye distortion in all of the shots. The process of creating the assets was straightforward as well as compositing them to match the live footage. Another major challenge was rotoscoping character out, especially with a noisy background and a shaky camera.
VFX work in progress - from Los Angeles Arboretum to 1950's Nam Dinh, Vietnam.
