Life Games is a collection of 4 educational mini-games made for the Jesuit Communications Foundation in Ateneo de Manila University, PH. These games are designed to be played during class, followed by a discussion after each game.
All 4 games were made entirely by me: 2D / 3D graphics, animation and programming.
I had no prior experience in game development when I started working on this project (I was 16 then) and I learned along the way. Even though the end products were average, I see this project as one of the biggest defining moments in my career as it allowed me to see how much I can push myself at a young age, both as an artist and a developer.
The collection contains 4 mini-games, the first one is:
The best way to explain this game by comparing it to the classic, 'Crazy Taxi'. The player has to go around town picking up passengers and making as much money as possible while competing with other jeepney drivers.
This game is about testing the player's patience. The player starts the game inside an ICU with a stranger. Having no guardians to look over the stranger, you are tasked to find and inform his relatives using his phone, all while monitoring his health.
This is basically an RTS game, but with cleaners and garbage trucks instead of soldiers and tanks. The main goal is to maintain cleanliness in the town as much as possible, setting garbage truck routes and assigning cleaners to pick up litter on the street.
You were asked by your mom to pick up groceries at the store. On the way home you encounter a number of beggars. Do you ignore them, give some change, give some food or hear their personal stories? How would you react when faced with someone who is clearly in need of help?
